Did anyone else see his game against Utah? Unbelievable. I wonder what makes Kobe so damn good. I mean, you can make a case that Lebron's more athletic, stronger, physically gifted. Ray Allen's probably just as good a shooter, if not better. And for work ethic, you can't say Gil loses out to him.
There's just something else about Kobe. What is it..? Ah, yes. Talent.
Was watching the highlights just moments ago. I want to go out and shoot some hoops, RIGHT NOW! 2am with my bad hamstring and all! Bring it on, baby!
So I strained my left hamstring last time. It was hell for the first couple of days, but it's a LOT better now. What worries me though, is the fact that the doc told me I'd be OK within a week. And it's been MORE than a week now.. two days over! Granted, it's largely improved, but there's still noticeable pain.
The sucky thing about it is, I can't work on my game. I can't jump properly, hell, I can't even walk properly!
That basically takes out all the cardio out of my workouts, too. The only thing I can do now is practice free-throw shooting, and chest passes. Ah well.
Sometimes, I really wish I could play for a living.
I won 4 out of the 5 games. I dominated whomever I wanted to dominate, I scored at will, I pulled down boards, I had a TON of easy layups. Which was all expected.
The game I lost, I think I've to chalk it up to my cousin. Pao was incredible. I scored the most points in all the games, but his defense and rebounding were really the turning point of the game. There's no way I can catch up to his natural atheleticism, so I think I've got to work on my endurance, speed, and basics twenty times harder, just so I don't get left behind.
Conclusion:
4 W / 1 L
Prediction:
Will keep winning at least 80% of the next games.
Lester and I were talking earlier today. He says that he was losing faith in our abilities as a tandem. We keep talking about how much better we are as players, but we don't win consistently. Dennis' team is the one that more often than not comes away with the W.
That made me think. Was I just really deluding myself into thinking I was better than everybody else? To be sure, Dennis comes close, if not surpasses me. He seems a lot more dedicated to the game of basketball, too. Like, hardcore dedicated. So why am I not all fired up to whoop his ass? Am I scared I can't beat him? I don't think so. In fact, I can't even imagine being scared.
The questions have been asked. There's a game this Friday. Let's look for the answers.
I honestly don't know how to do that. I know I should be doing suicides and everything, but those kill my legs. Totally a different burn from doing squats. Being a bodybuilder = totally different from being a baller.
I've heard that plyometrics are the best for explosiveness and quickness. But I've also heard they damage your joints, and it's not advisable unless you're a pro athlete because you should be getting paid to hurt yourself. Ugh.
Well, whatever. There's a plyometrics training center somewhere around the metro. If it's reasonably priced, I might just go ahead and check it out one of these days. Oh yeah.
Been watching a lot of Slam Dunk, lately. It's this soap-opera of an anime, based on (you guessed it,) basketball! This is what got me playing when I was just starting. Everyone else was into Michael Jordan and the Bulls, but not me. I couldn't care less about MJ.
I was Rukawa. Yeah. I was cold, cool, and totally unstoppable. All the chicks loved me, I had my own cheering squad, I was fiercely competitive. Actually, a lot of my moves came from watching Slam Dunk. The step-back J. The spin-move. The fakes.
It didn't hurt that it was funny, too.
So I've resumed playing one on one. I stopped for a long time because I altered my game to fit a five-on-five format, but now I'm getting back into the swing of things. Since no one reads this blog, or because I maintain some sort of anonymity, I feel that I can safely list those who've fallen to my game without hurting anybody's feelings.
That's it so far. 3-0. Who's next?
You DO know that KG is with the Celtics now, right? And you do know that Al Jefferson was considered above average as a big man in the weak East, right? And you DO know that KG is 7 feet plus, with guard handles and touch, right? But that he can also bang?
I was watching the Celtics v.s. Raptors preseason game. They had to double KG everytime he touched the ball. Then he'd kick it out to Ray Allen, who'd pass it off to someone else. Who was OPEN. Nobody around him. What am I trying to say?
If the other guys can hit their open jump shots, the Celtics are going to steamroll through the EAST. I called it here first.
It's around that time of the year, and I still don't have a yahoosports fantasy league. Geh. Somebody hook me up! I know I occasionally abandon my teams and everything, but so what? I enjoy the drafting!
If I go through the season without a single league, it'll be the first time in.. 6 years or so.
Yo. This stuff is going to be all basketball. From the NBA to the NBDL, to the PBA to the PBL, to the playas on the street, Gilbert's blog, my own game, going up in flames. UAAP, NCAA, crossovers, spin moves, Slam Dunk the anime (because I am tensai!) It's all here.
It's going to be the shit, it's going to be the bomb, it's going to be the shitty bomb!
And that's it for my introductory post. Peace.
